Childen’s Choir | Grace Church

While our children’s choir is part of our larger parish community and participates in the weekly liturgy, we welcome children and families from all backgrounds and faiths to participate in music making with us.

Here is some information about our choir that you may find useful:

Age Range: 8-16 years old (young tenors and basses sing with the adult choir).
Cost: FREE! All choristers are provided with a small stipend per call.
Practices: We practice weekly on Thursdays, as well as before services on Sundays.
Touring: We tour nationally and to the UK periodically.
Scholarships for vocal and music training are available on a limited basis, please contact the music director for more information.

Suzuki Method

The “Mother Tongue” approach

The Toronto School for Strings is very committed to teaching very young children in the Suzuki, or Mother Tongue Approach, as it is known in Japan.

We are a proud member of the Suzuki Association of Ontario
We have on our faculty, teachers who have specialized training in Suzuki, and working with very young children.
We believe that it is the best way to start a very young child.
We offer instruction in Violin, Cello, Piano and Guitar.

Theory Classes

TSSP offers online Theory Classes with Susan Hamblin Dennis.

Susan is a very experienced, motivating, enthusiastic teacher.

Knowledge of theory enhances the student’s understanding of their practical study on their instrument, and gives them the pre-requisite to obtain a certificate for RCM Exams.

TSSP Orchestra

Learn, enjoy, and perform great music, with friends!

The mission of the TSSO is to learn, enjoy, and perform great music, with friends.

We rehearse and perform a broad range of music, ranging from Baroque and Classical, to the mainstream repertoire of the 20th Century. Our repertoire includes: Corelli, Bach, Handel, Telemann, Stanley, Borowski, and Holst.

We are very happy to set up chamber groups that are appropriate for the experience and age of the players.
We have a large library, and a central location for coaching / rehearsing.

Personalized lesson plan for each year of instruction

We offer instruction in Violin (traditional and Suzuki Violin), Viola, Cello (traditional and Suzuki), Double Bass, Guitar, Electric Bass, Theory, Ear Training, and Jazz Piano.

Students have a personalized lesson plan for each year of instruction which may include preparation for Music Festivals, Royal Conservatory of Music (RCM) Examinations, Solo Recitals, Workshops, Ensembles and Orchestra, Musicianship. …→
