Tak Kwan

Tak Kwan started playing the violin at the age of seven. He studied in Hong Kong, England, the United States and Canada. He was invited to perform as a soloist at the age 16, with the Hong Kong Philharmonic Ensemble. During his time of study, he won numerous competitions and scholarships. He has appeared as a guest soloist performing violin and viola in the Peterborough Symphony Orchestra, the Quinte Symphony Orchestra and the Scarborough Philharmonic. These performances have earned him critical acclaim. Tak has also released several solo CDs.

More recently, Tak has also been invited to be Guest Concertmaster of the Cobourg Symphony Orchestra. Currently, Tak is the Concertmaster of the Peterborough Symphony Orchestra. Tak Kwan is a founding member of the Fisher Quartet (1990-present).

Tak is a devoted teacher. He maintains a lively and diverse class of private music students. In addition to his teaching activities at the Toronto School for Strings, Tak also teaches at the Bishop Strachan School.

When Tak is not playing or teaching, he plays tennis.
