Rafael Kuerti

Rafael Kuerti began his cello studies at age 5. Teachers include: Kristine Bogyo, Roman Borys, Claire Carberry, Simon Fryer, Paul Widner, Mihai Tetel. and Shauna Rolston, He is currently at the Glenn Gould School of Music doing a performance degree and studying with John Kadz.

Rafael has been a member of the National Academy Orchestra in Hamilton under Boris Brott, the Toronto Symphony Youth Orchestra, principal and soloist with the Mooredale Youth Orchestra, and was member of the Rydonk String Quartet featured at the 2003 Festival of the Sound, Kincardine, and Banff Summer Festivals.

He participated at the Scotiafest in Halifax, Domaine Forget and Orford in Quebec, and Greenwood Chamber Music Camp in Massachusetts. Rafael spent this past summer in Indiana University for the summer session studying with Janos Starker and playing in the Festival Orchestra.

Rafael also enjoys making hip-hop music with his cello and sampler in his free time.
