Group Classes and Ensembles

  • Suzuki Violin and Cello Groups: An important supplement to the private lesson, we offer Suzuki groups for students on both violin and cello. New this year is a beginner Suzuki group for older beginning students ages 9 and up.
  • Literacy Class: Led by Jill Clarke, this course offers young students the opportunity to improve their reading ability in an enjoyable class setting.
  • Advanced Teen Violin and Cello Classes: These instrumental groups help prepare teen players for higher levels of playing, with thoughtful, challenging repertoire. Violin is led by Henry Janzen, and cello is led by Mary Fisher.
  • Junior Orchestra: A great first ensemble experience! Conducted by Julian Fisher, this orchestra plays a variety of repertoire ranging from classics to modern pieces. Recommended for students age 8-13.
  • Advanced Youth Chamber Orchestra: Geared towards teen performers in Suzuki Book 4/RCM Grade 6 and above, this group offers a challenging and enjoyable orchestra experience that won't tie up your weekend. Conducted by artist teacher Henry Janzen.
  • Not Quite Ready for Primetime Players: A group for adults who don't feel ready for a group! This orchestra, conducted by Peter Cosbey, is a great reading ensemble for adults who are at the beginning of their studies.
  • TSSO: The Toronto School for Strings Orchestra is a diverse group of wonderful people who enjoy making beautiful music, and led by wonderful maestro Julian Fisher. Recommended for intermediate and advanced adults, the TSSO is a challenging but non-competitive group that plays music ranging from Eine Kleine Nachtmusik to Broadway.
